2017 Kub Kar & Scout Truck Rally

Yesterday was the annual Loyalist Area Kub Kar & Scout Truck Rally held once again at Kingston’s Frontenac Mall. By all accounts it was a rousing success with almost 200 vehicles entered:

  • 111 Kub Kars
  • 45 Scout 18-Wheelers
  • A dozen Scouter Kub Kars & Trucks
  • 8 Outlaw Class Kub Kars

Even though it’s an annual event, it doesn’t all just come together overnight. Planning began before Christmas and then a dedicated crew of volunteers descended on the Mall Thursday evening to load in the tracks and equipment, and returned at lunch on Friday to set everything up:

Then they arrived, vehicles in hand

and everything was ready for Saturday morning:

2017 is the second year that we’ve had an “outlaw” class and there were 3 times as many vehicles entered as last year. The rules are pretty simple: no flames, no smoke, no weapons. Otherwise, anything goes:

A great time was had by all and everyone’s already thinking about designs for next year’s vehicles.

A huge thank you to the Frontenac Mall for providing the space and allowing us to take over one wing of the building.

Also a big thanks to the Chit-Chat Café for donating prizes for a free draw.
